How do you start a film production company with too little money, not enough time, emotional assistants, actors that never show up and still be a honest creative guy that everyone doesn’t hate?

The answer is, You Don’t.

Not unless you’re a glutton for punishment or are determined enough to face an almost impossible challenge on many different levels.

An ethical, creative, physical and dare I say spiritual quest of self expression in a business model that leaves little room for any of the above.

Face it, this is a cynical business.

The odds of success are low, there are many obstacles to getting a project together and if you’re lucky enough to do that, there is still the challenge of selling the film and making a profit in a glutted market with a slow economy.

Not a challenge for the meek.

And cynicism runs deep in this town, jaded actors and angry producers rail against a heartless system and too many years of head butting and disappointments.

So even if you find people to work with, you first have to deal with their disbelief and outright skepticism. Not a vibe conducive to creativity or working together.

So what makes a person take odds on a roll thats crueler than any Las Vegas pit boss who has just set the gaming floor enforcers on you.

Love of the art, Love of people, Love of camera work, Love of editing, Love of creating and seeing the end results move the emotions of the audience.

It’s addictive and once you start, nothing else ever seems as valuable.

I always put my best forward into everything that I do and this is no exception. I am sure that it will test me in ways I have yet to foresee.

So despite whatever is true about this business, there are similar truths in any business and of people in general, as every truth is relative.

The best that any artist can do is believe in himself, his desire for self expression, the art form itself and being a part of something larger than life. Something that looms over history and culture with a wide shadow.

Then the eternal question of every artist:

Am I saying something worthwhile?

Well, am I?

My office and assistant, where all the endless talk happens.

Why is my desk such a bloody mess?

Small on the outside, big on imagination.
